By default, the Advanced Boxes use VAT recognition. With this detection, one item is created per VAT rate detected, regardless of the number of items on the invoice.

With item recognition, one item is created per recognized line on the invoice with the respective item total and VAT rate. This allows a more accurate account assignment at the item level without having to manually create split items. In addition, further entry details can be provided per item instead of across items. For example, item text can be entered or different cost centres can be defined.

The recognition of the items notifies the user if the invoice and item totals do not match. The user then has two options:

-   Either the new total is accepted
-   Or an item can be created with the difference.

If an item is also created manually using the plus sign, the amounts on the item are automatically calculated based on the manually entered data.
